Social Studies

Social Studies follows the New York State Regents curriculum path. Studies include hands-on experience and instructional field trips to historical and historically relevant sites in New York as well as in other states. High interest libraries are available to students for research as well as reading enjoyment. We use resources from McDougal & Littell as well as History Alive! materials. Our middle school students are required to prepare a Social Studies exit project to demonstrate mastery of the content before moving to high school. Our high school students take the required coursework to lead to the Regents diploma as well as a variety of electives at the college level.

OCS held its own debate during the presidential campaign. Over 500 people were present.
